Cherry Tree

Down in the middle of central park as the sunset turns to dark
Somewhere over by a garden green I saw a girl that I’ve never seen
suddenly she was at my side my heart beating ten feet wide

Without any warning she began to dance as if she was in a trance
she got a little white dress that had no sleeves and eyes the color of summer leaves
underneath the cherry tree my time was short but it sure was sweet

a little bit later we went downtown just to hear the night time city sounds
well i had a feeling she'd never stop as she caused a rumble on the table top
the last i saw her was on Mulberry street, i still shake my head in disbelief

look out now you'll see the storm is rolling in, it might get rough
we can go another time around my friend but if you had enough
just say when, then again let me tell you that

i love the way she turns her toes by the cherry tree on garden grove
well the people passing might stop and stare but i don't think that she would care
it's had to find the words to say if i ever make it back that way

fiddler plays a tune on a golden string you can hear him come calling you can hear it ring
i've been searching up high and low, just want to fill my cup before i go
anywhere that you may roam, where i hang my hat is where i call my home
